“A Portrait of a Man” Oil on Wooden Tablet, c. early 1900s

This handsome, miniature French portrait dates to around the early 1900s. Painted in oil on a wooden tablet, the postcard-size artwork has some gorgeous details, including the stripy shirt and twisted moustache. There’s a worn signature in red, with remnants of a paper label, and a stamp on the reverse reads Rue La Fayette, Paris.
